August: National Immunization Awareness Month

We all need shots (vaccines) to help protect us from serious diseases. This protection is called immunization. To help keep our community safe, Bold Kulture Beauty is proudly participating in National Immunization Awareness Month to help bring you some tips about immunizations and why they are important to your health.

Did You Know:
  • African American adults are less likely than non-Hispanic white adults to have received the flu vaccine in the past year or to have ever received the pneumonia vaccine.
  • African American children aged 19 to 35 months were 10% less likely to have received the influenza (flu) shot in the past 12 months
  • African American women are 10% less likely to have received an HPV vaccine as white women.
Why They’re Helpful:

Immunization is one of the most important ways to keep yourself and your loved ones healthy. Vaccines are safe. There are rarely reasons to not get vaccinated. Shots can prevent serious diseases like the flu, measles, and pneumonia. It’s important to know which shots you need and when to get them.

When Should I Get Them:

Everyone age 6 months and older needs to get a flu vaccine every year. Other types of shots work best at specific ages or life stages. Check the list below to find out what immunizations are recommended and when to get them:
