What It Looks Like To Be Consistent

What does consistency look like for you on your natural hair journey?

I have said before that consistency is key to achieving your hair goals. And it is. But what does it mean to be consistent?

On the most basic level, to be consistent means that you act or do things the same way over time to achieve accuracy.  In essence, whatever we do consistently, that is where our strength will lie. Take a moment to consider what you’ve done consistently on your natural journey. Now evaluate where you are and where you want to be.

We can consistently do the wrong things on our natural journey. This is how we end up on the wrong side of our goals. Consistently doing the things that matter will draw us closer to our goals and promote our hair’s health.

Accountability matters

We can say and probably have planned several times to be consistent on our natural journeys. We are probably consistently doing things that aren’t serving us on this journey right now.  When we commit to doing the right work, it helps to have systems to keep us accountable. This could be as simple as selecting a specific day of the week to wash your hair or determining that you will only go “X” amount of days between washes.

Tackle one thing at a time. Once you’ve identified what you want to do, hold yourself accountable, and be consistent. When you have masted that thing move on to something different. Before you know it, consistently doing the right work will be second nature!
